Lighting Design
I spend a sizeable chunk of my time working as a lighting designer (and theatrical electrician). For many years, I have enjoyed using lighting to implement wide-ranging artistic visions. My designs encompass a variety of styles and aesthetics:
I specialize in designs incorporating saturated colors and heightened emotions. (Hamlet, MIT Shakespeare Ensemble, 2013)
I also work with more subtle or natural colorings, manipulating the audience’s subconscious expectations. (Julius Caesar, MIT Shakespeare Ensemble, 2013)
My designs are alternately grounded in fantasy worlds… (Copenhagen, MIT Shakespeare Ensemble, 2014. Photo by Jonah Ko.)
…and more lifelike ones. (Little Shop of Horrors, MIT Musical Theatre Guild, 2014. Photo by Jonah Ko.)

Concerts and dance
I also enjoy providing lighting for concerts, dance shows, and other performance events. My designs are characterized by strong contrasts, bold colors, and a unique approach to design that treats lighting as another participant on stage, interacting with the performers and the music.
